RUWOMED training on economic projects || 13 & 14 November 2014

The Collective for Research and Training on Development – Action (CRTD.A), organized on 13th and 14th of November, 2014, at the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), Beirut, the first phase of the Capacity Building Cycle (CBC) which it is implementing the framework of RUWOMED project entitled: “Supporting and connecting rural women’s traditional know how in the Mediterranean through the promotion of fair trade products”. The RUWOMED project is a regional initiative implemented by CRTD.A in Lebanon, PARC in Palestine and ACCP in Spain. RUWOMED is funded by the EU and ENPI.
The CBC aims at ensuring that associations working on economic empowerment are able to plan and effectively implement sustainable economic initiatives, which will result in positive transformations in the lives of targeted women and youth beneficiaries.
Several topics were covered by the workshop namely: key economic concepts, globalization and its impact on women, gender and the economy and alternative economic indicator that capture women’s work. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Christina Wallace and Lina Abou-Habib.
Representatives of 15 Lebanese associations, in addition to the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee (LPDC), attended the first part of this capacity building cycle, namely organisations working with Lebanese and Palestinian women and youth.
The second part of the capacity building cycle will be held between the 24th and the 26th of November and will focus on understanding the Lebanese economy with emphasis on women and on Palestinian refugees.
