As part of its on-going meetings and outreach to local communities and civil society organisations, My Nationality is a Right for Me and My Family Campaign organized on Thursday April 24th a general assembly in the area of Shabriha (South Lebanon). The event was held at the local club of the Popular Aid for Relief and Development (PARD) and was attended by 35 concerned women in addition to PARD field staff and practitioners. My Nationality is a Right for me and My Family Campaign took part in the sit in organized by Kafa and the National Coalition to Protect Women from Domestic Violence. The event was held last Tuesday April 1st at 10:30 in order to support the legislation to protect women from domestic violence. The sit in called on parliament to endorse the bill to protect women from domestic violence lest women withdraw their voices during the next elections. more

On the occasion of International Women's Day (IWD), the Nationality Campaign and the members of its leading committee and 275 of the campaign constituency took part in the street march, organised by Kafa on Saturday March 8, starting at the National Museum and going all the way to Badaro, Tayyouneh and the Ministry of justice. My Nationality is a Right for me and my Family Campaign, along with its membership of concerned women and their families, welcome the formation of the new Cabinet, a protracted process which has taken more than ten months to mature. This is nevertheless a rather positive outcome as it will largely help defuse the political and confessional crisis in Lebanon. more

My Nationality is a Right for me and My Family Campaign renewed its demands for equality in the rights of women to transmit nationality as well as for equality in the laws during a national sit in organised yesterday at the Riad Solh Plaza on the 70th occasion of Lebanon’s independence. More than 1000 persons took part in this event including concerned women and their families, fellow activists, media representatives, representatives of sister organisations and supporters of the campaign. more
