National Programme Consultant for Training of Lebanese women’s organisations

Danish Church Aid DCA is looking for a programme consultant to facilitate the implementation of a capacity building project for Lebanese Women’s organizations under the umbrella of the DCA Regional Gender Program.

The purpose of the project is to strengthen the capacity of Lebanese women’s organisations to design and develop campaign strategies that benefit women and women’s rights in Lebanon. The project combines workshops, on-the-job training and follow-up in advocacy campaign management, building relationships with government, working with media and building and maintaining coalitions.

Working closely in cooperation with the project’s associate expert trainer and DCA Middle East Desk in Copenhagen the programme consultant will mainly be responsible for the preparation and co-implementation of training workshops, workshop follow-up and on-the-job training and support of participating women’s organisations. In addition, the consultant will participate in the drafting of a workshop manual capturing key advocacy issues in Lebanon and learning from the workshops.

Key qualifications:
DCA is looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

• Experience from previous training processes and on-the job consultations, preferably within the NGO sector
• Experience in developing campaigns and/or project strategies
• Experience in planning and implementing public campaigns
• Experience in programme monitoring and reporting
• Solid knowledge of the Lebanese women’s movement and the political environment in Lebanon
• Can work fluently in Arabic as well as in English

The consultant will work under the guidance and supervision of DanChurchAid’s Middle East Desk in Copenhagen and liaises directly with DCAs associate expert trainer.

Duration of assignment: 12 months, starting July 2008
Working hours are 37 hours per week with 4 weeks of paid annual leave
