Consultative Seminar on Gender & Lebanon’s accession to the WTO: Towards a strategy for advocacy

The ‘Collective for Research and Training on Development – Action’, in collaboration with ‘Heinrich Boll Foundation’ is organizing a ‘Consultative Seminar on Gender and Lebanon’s Accession to WTO: a Strategy for Advocacy’ which will be held on March 12, 2008 at the Crowne Plaza – Hamra - Beirut.

The seminar will aim at discussing challenges arising from Lebanon’s accession to the WTO, as well identifying areas for advocacy and developing strategies to ensure that the process and terms of the accession benefits the largest segments of the population particularly women.

The seminar will be moderated by Ms. Maria Rosaria Iorio – IGTN Geneva Office Director – and responsible for analysis and monitoring of WTO trade negotiations and their implications for gender relations.

Conclusions from the preliminary study on ‘Lebanon Accession to WTO: Highlights of critical issues” which she carried out will be presented and discussed during the seminar.
